World Breast feeding week 2018

August 7, 2018

ADK Hospital mark World Breastfeeding Week 2018 (1st August - 7th August)

Breastfeeding is said to be the foundation of life and the baby's first vaccine. Doctors recommend exclusive breastfeeding within one hour after birth until the baby is six months old.

WBA & UNICEF advocate widely that breastfeeding is a responsibility and not a choice and that the whole community should be supportive of the cause.

ADK Hospital marks breastfeeding week colorfully to create awareness among the nurses of the hospital, patients, and the whole community. Twitter interactions were held throughout the week. Badges were distributed to all the staff to wear. In addition, a poster competition and a quiz competition on knowledge on breastfeeding were held among nurses throughout the week.

The nurses visited postnatal patients both at home and in the hospital for breastfeeding counseling. Refresher classes were conducted for nurses and doctors. In addition, an open forum discussion was conducted on breastfeeding for doctors and nurses.
