Visiting Admitted Patients at ADK Hospital

This guideline on hospital visiting aims to prioritize the health, safety and wellbeing of our patients, community and staff. With the community learning to keep its pace with the new normal, we are happy to restart visiting hours with the following guidance’s.
 
 
FOR ALL IN PATIENTS:

- We strongly recommend your adherence to current hospital policy of mandatory mask use within hospital.

- Refrain from visiting patients if you are unwell (COVID/non-COVID related symptoms). This is to protect and ensure the safety of our patients who are already unwell from additional illnesses, as they may take longer to recover.

- Ensure to sanitize the hand while entering and leaving the patient unit using the hand-rub at the entrance of the unit. 

 

PRIVATE ROOMS:

- A care-taker is allowed to stay with the patient at all times in the room.

- Private rooms do not have a specific visiting period. We recommend a no-visitor period from 10:00pm to 8:00am to allow adequate rest for the patient.

- It is highly advisable to refrain from having more than 4 individuals in the room at a given time.

- Visitors are recommended to leave the room during patient assessments, doctors’ rounds, wound dressings and other clinical care timings.

- Refrain from sitting on patients’ bed and minimize contact with patients’ immediate surroundings.

 

WARDS:

- A care-taker is allowed to stay with the patient at all times in the cubicle/room.

- Visiting period is between 18:00 – 20:00 hrs.

- Visitors are recommended to leave the cubicle/room during patient assessments, doctors’ rounds, wound dressings and other clinical care timings.

- Refrain from sitting on patients’ bed and minimize contact with patients’ immediate surroundings.

 

CRITICAL CARE AREAS:

- A care-taker is usually not allowed to stay with the patient.

- Two visiting periods are allowed. Morning 10:00 - 11:00 hrs and Evening 18:00 - 20:00 hrs.

- One visitor is allowed inside the patient unit at a time

- A maximum of 2 visitors per day, in addition to designated family guardian, will be allowed.

- Street footwear is prohibited inside critical care areas. Visitors are advised to use slippers available on shelf labelled as “clean slippers”.

- Use of mobile phones inside these areas are restricted.

- If a family member would like to take a photo/video of the patient, they must do so with prior specific permission from the staff. Please be aware that such requests may/may not always be granted.

- Specific infection control practices maybe practiced in some of the critical care areas. Use of gowns, head cover, etc. while entering to specific maybe advised as additional infection control measures.

- To minimize the risk of infection transmission, minimize the time frame you spend with the patient to no more than 10 minutes.

 

Exceptions/Exemptions:

- Special visitation arrangement maybe arranged on compassionate grounds.

- Children under 12 years are not allowed as visitors. However, compassionate visiting will be allowed. 

- Very young patients and patients with specific special needs may be allowed to keep one family member with patient even in critical care areas.

- During Ramadan visiting hours is 16:00-18:00 hrs.
