Advance imaging technology: Introduction of 128 Slice CT System to the Maldives

March 8, 2016

In our efforts to bring the most advanced medical technology and the convenience of such technology to the Maldives, the Hospital will be introducing a 128 Slice CT system in April. With the introduction of this machine, it will be the most advanced CT imaging system in the country and will take these services to a level that is at par with those that are available in regional countries.

The Siemens Somatom Definition AS 128 Slice CT is capable of highly shophisticated imaging such as

  • 3 dimentional and 4 dimentional cardiac and tumor imaging
  • Perfusion analysis of the brain
  • Motion free lung scanning
  • Dual energy CT scan for implants, foreign bodies and stones.
  • CT guided interventions
  • High speed image acquisition (completes a scan in seconds to minutes)
  • Lower radiation exposure

In addition to those, the CT will also be able to conduct high precision angiography studies, for which, at present a lot of Maldivians go abroad. These include:

  • coronary angiography
  • peripheral vascular angiography
  • neuro-vascular angiography

In order to get this upgrading process done, the Hospital will temporarily close down the current CT services on 10 March 2016 for estimated period of one month. The services with the new CT Scan is planned commence within the second week of April. At this juncture we regret any inconveniences that this closure may cause to our patients.

The Hospital assures our customers that it will continue to upgrade its facilities to meet up with the best solutions that can be offered to the patients using the best of technology that is available in the world. We are committed to keep caring for you, when you need it most.
