Successfully done CABG (bypass x3graft) for an octogenarian (82 yr old)

The eldest patient to successfully get a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) in the Maldives have been discharged from the Hospital. This octogenarian (82yrs) was referred from the National Cardiac Center (IGMH) under the care of Dr. Ali Shafeeq and Dr. Miqdaad Shareef.

This surgery’s successful outcome depended on a collective teamwork from a number of specialties, namely Pulmonology, Neurology, Cardiology and the nursing team. Above all, the very positive participation and cooperation of the patient and his family was a sooting factor for the entire care team.

We have been in touch with the patient and he has been doing well after discharge and has returned to his home island. We wish him a healthier and longer life.
