Postgraduate medical scholarships 2017

The Hospital is pleased to announce the winners of the postgraduate medical scholarships for the year 2017. The postgrduate medical scholarship scheme of the hospital was introduced in 2016 for a period of five years. The scheme provides funding for five shcolarships in medical specialization and super specialization.

This year, the hospital annoucned for application for scholarships in five different areas. These include, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology and gastroenterology.

A total of 4 scholarships were awarded today in the areas of

  • Internal Medicine
  • Pediatrics
  • Obstetrics and gynecology and
  • Ophthalmology

At present, there are four prostgradute scholars studying in the following fields of specialization and super specialization under the funding of this hospital.

  • Neurology (super specialization)
  • General surgery
  • Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) and
  • Obstetrics gynecology

Over the years this hospital has trained medical students in the fields of

  • Dentistry
  • General surgery
  • Orthopedics
  • Radiology and 
  • MBBS

The scholarship awards were handed over to the scholars by the Chief Guest of the ceremony, the President of the Maldives Medical and Dental Council, Dr Abdulla Afeef at a small ceremony held at the hospital.

  • Successfully done CABG (bypass x3graft) for an octogenarian

    November 14, 2018 - The eldest patient to successfully get a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) in the Maldives have been discharged from the Hospital. This octogenarian (82yrs) was referred from the National Cardiac Center (IGMH) under the care of Dr. Ali Shafeeq and Dr. Miqdaad Shareef.
