Healthcare Quality Forum
On March 2, 2012, the Hospital organised and held a historical event at the national level on improving healthcare quality.
This is the first time a medical institution in the Maldives took such an initiative to promote quality and standards of care for patients.
The purpose of this Forum is to initiate the dialogue and culture of safe patient-centered care, and will focus on the follwoing streams
- Clinical Improvement
- Medical Law
- Patient Safety and
- Patient Engagement
This is a one day forum where discussions on these areas will be initiated. A wide range of participants, inclluding medical professioanls, adminitrators and patients will participate in this Forum. Papers will be presented from experts in the areas and as a unique feature, there will be a paper presented by patients who have had different expereinces in the Maldives healthcare system.
The Forum was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Health, IGMH, Maldives Medical Association, Maldives Medical Council, Nursing Council, Faculty of Health Sciences, Private Health Facilities and above all patient representatives.
A unique feature of this Forum was that this was the first time in Maldivian history that patients have presented to the medical community. Over 80 participants participate and contributed throughout a day long Forum. Overall the Forum was declared a very useful and successful event by the participants and they echoed the need for more event of such nature.
As next steps, follow up small sessions will be held throughout the year to develop standards of care and set new benchmarks in the Maldivian healthcare setting.
ADK Hospital is committed and continually work towards establishing new benchmarks and quality standards for the betterment of healthcare in the Maldives. This Forum in one of many initiatives taken to expand our thinking, reach and dialogue to improve patient care in the Maldives.
