Introducing the Siemens Magnetom Essenza 1.5T TIM+DOT MRI to medical professionals

On 30 April 2015, the Hospital held a medical medical education session to introduce the newly installed Siemens Magnetom Essenza 1.5T TIM+DOT MRI at the Hospital.

On 15 March 2002, the Hospital installed the first ever MRI machine in the Maldives and since then ADK Hospital is the only health care facility in the country that has offered these services in the Maldives.

The installation and commissioning of the new state-of-the-art machine takes this serive to new height with the most modern applications and a number of new services, including neurology and cardiology suites as well as advanced peditraic and oncology suites as well. The services of this machine will make diagnosis of conditions in a much more speedy and comfortable manner. With most examinations are conducte head out, this MRI system provides less claustrophobi and also the time to take complex MRIs are reduces to almost 50% from what is currnelty availabe.

The medical education session was focussed on the leading medical professionals working in the country and provided them with the much awaited and exciting applications available in this new machine and how it will help them to make more precise and timely diagnosis of the conditions they treat. The session was conducted by a Siemens Applicaitons Specialist, Mr Mohamed Labeeb. The presentation was followed by questions and answeres as well as intellectual discussions.

The session was introduced by the Manging Director of the Hospital, Mr Ahmed Afaal and he welcomed and thanked all those who participated in the session. Also he stressed the importance that the Hospital gives in reaching higher standards of care and also to make available the latest technology to the county for the benefit of the people. He outlined briefly the recently completed ICU project as well as the currently ongoing project to develop advanced theatre facilities and a cardiac catheterisation lab at the Hospital.

The Managing director informed the gathering that the machine will be put to use with the comming week and it will take a some time to start the more advanced studies. He also informed that the professionals will be kept informed of these developments.
