November 26, 2012

ADK Hospital has received the Healthcare Leadership Award 2012 for outstanding contribution in promoting inclusive healthcare. A Civil Society Group called Knowledge Resource Development and Welfare Group gave this award. The ceremony was held this afternoon in New Delhi, India. The Managing Director of the Hospital, Mr. Ahmed Afaal, received the award. In addition to the Managing Director, the Minister Counselor of the High Commission of the Republic of Maldives in India, Ms Aishath Azeema also participated in the event.

Knowledge Resource Development and Welfare Group (KRDWG) is a non profit, social benefit organization operating at national level in India. Although in the past the Group had is focus mainly on the education sector, their orientation has been now shifted to include healthcare. Hence this year, the annual conference and awards were focused on the Health Sector.

For the last seven years, KRDWG has awarded individuals and organizations for exceptional social services. The awards are given based on independent research by the Advisory Council of the Group. The criteria for awarding include an assessment of available literature on the organization, progress over years and independent recommendations from beneficiaries. According to the guidelines of this award, the winning organizations are not consulted prior to them being selected in an effort to keep the process of selection as independent as possible. It is indeed an independent recognition of the hard work of each and every staff of the Hospital. Having a vision and working hard to achieve that vision is the key to this prestigious achievement. It sets yet a new standard for the Hospital to aim to and achieve.

This year, 30 Awards in the leadership category were presented to individuals and organizations. Four international Parties were among these Awardees. In addition to ADK Hospital, parties from Nepal, Trinidad and Tobago and UAE received awards.

ADK Hospital is proud to be the first Hospital in the Maldives to achieve such recognition for the work done to improve the health of the Maldivian people. It will continue to strive in the Maldives healthcare services, caring about you when you need it most.
